The newest features in BreakOff, explained.
What is a QR Code break?
A QR Code break turns a QR or barcode into a physical "unlock anchor." When you start one, you scan any code you like, a sticker on the fridge, a code in another room, anything. Your break stays locked until you walk back and scan that exact same code again.
BreakOff uses your camera only to read the code, on your device. It never takes photos, records video, or sends camera data anywhere. If you lose access to your code, the break simply runs until its timer ends.
What does "I'm Done" do?
"I'm Done" ends your day on your phone. It locks your selected apps until midnight and cannot be paused, ended early, or overridden, it's the strongest commitment BreakOff offers. Start it intentionally. App blocking never restricts the iOS Phone app or your ability to place emergency calls.
How do Friends work?
Friends lets you connect with other BreakOff users by username, send each other phone-free break invites, and take breaks together. You can search for a friend's exact username, send a request, and they choose whether to accept.
If someone bothers you, every profile has Block and Report controls. Blocking removes the connection and stops further contact; reporting sends the details to our team to review.
Why does Friends ask for my birthdate?
The Friends feature is for users 16 and older. The first time you open it, we ask for your birthdate only to check that you meet that minimum. We derive your age from it and store the age, not the birthdate, and use it only for this eligibility check. The rest of BreakOff works normally for everyone, regardless of age.
What is the Leaderboard?
The Leaderboard shows how your streaks and focus hours compare with friends you've added. It's part of the Friends feature, so it's also limited to users 16 and older. Only people you are friends with can see your stats.
How do I block or report someone?
Open the friend's profile, tap the menu, and choose Block or Report. We aim to review reported users and content within 24 hours, and act on serious reports right away. You can also email support@breakoff.io if you'd rather reach us directly.
How do I delete my account and data?
Go to Settings → Delete Account inside the app. This removes your profile, break history, friend connections, and sign-in record. You can also email support@breakoff.io and we'll take care of it. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
